Apply For Academically Qualified Person Card

The Academically Qualified Person (AQP) Card is designed for individuals who have achieved a recognised academic qualification in a construction-related field. It provides formal proof that the holder possesses the required level of professional knowledge and understanding to work safely and competently within the construction industry.

This card is suitable for those who have completed qualifications such as:

• Construction-related degrees, HNDs, HNCs

• CIOB Certificates or Diplomas

• NEBOSH Diplomas and certain NEBOSH Certificates

Before applying, candidates should confirm whether their qualification is eligible by using the CSCS Card Finder tool on the official CSCS website. The Card Finder will help you identify whether your academic award qualifies for this card type.

Application Requirements

To apply for the AQP Card, applicants must:

1. Provide a copy of their academic qualification certificate, along with transcripts or unit details (if available).

2. Pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Test for Managers and Professionals (MAP), or the CIC Health and Safety Test as an alternative.

3. Submit their application through CSCS Online, the official digital platform for CSCS card services.

Processing & Delivery

Applications are submitted and verified online. Once approved, the AQP Card is typically dispatched and received within five working days.

Validity

The Academically Qualified Person Card is valid for five years and can be renewed upon expiry, provided the individual continues to meet the qualification and testing standards.

Overseas Qualifications

 

Individuals who obtained their qualifications outside the UK and wish to apply for an AQP Card should contact Ecctis (the UK’s national agency for international qualifications) to obtain an Industry Skills Statement (ISS) confirming equivalency with UK standards.
